Jacki and Lana live across the road from each other. Their dogs, Duke and Toffee, are the best of mates. Sometimes Toffee will escape from the front gate and dash to Duke’s for an uninvited play date (and consequently, a dog mum cup of tea!).
North Shore and Beaches Dogs is for waggy tail dogs just like ours and their human parents. The aim is to connect our dog-loving community so we can help each other out with doggy daycare/holiday sitting/walking and dog friendships (minus the escaping).
It is the first local dog-sitting directory for the North Shore and Northern Beaches of Sydney. The idea for the directory came about after Jacki formed a local dog Facebook group when she lived in Lane Cove. She had wanted to find a friend for Duke and to establish a reciprocal holiday dog-sitting relationship. Before she knew it, the group grew to 2.6K members and she realised this is something lots of people are interested in. When she moved to Mona Vale, she met Lana, an online writer and fellow dog mum. The Facebook group then expanded to include the Beaches and become the North Shore and Northern Beaches Dog-Sitters Group. It now has over 4K members. With Jacki’s marketing and events management background and Lana’s creativity and writing skills, the two realised they could build an even better online offering for dog pawrents and sitters to connect. The website with a dog-sitting directory and fun, heartfelt and informative dog blogs was born.
BUT we can’t do it without your help! North Shore and Beaches Dogs is dependent on a thriving and active community. So please, create a dog-sitting listing in the Directory if you are (or want to become!) a dog sitter, or if you are a dog owner please peruse the listings to find a pawfect sitter for your beloved pooch. Check out the dog blogs and share these on your socials if you like. And PLEASE invite other local dog-people to become members of the growing Facebook Group and to join the Directory!
